Spokane Baseball Umpires: Evaluation Philosophy
It is felt that by observing umpires in real game situations and providing constructive feedback, umpires will be able to grow in their skills and be able to umpire games at increasingly higher competitive levels. For that reason, the SBU Board has implemented an evaluation program that has as its goal the observation and evaluation of every active and ready umpire in the association at least once each year. Below is a link to an article taken from Referee Magazine that outlines how an umpire should mentally and physically prepare for an evaluation.
Are you scheduled to be evaluated? Then you will want to download the handout below explaining what the SBU evaluators will be looking for.
